Business Donates Trees

You want to do something good for the environment How about planting some trees That s what a local couple decided to do - and they did it to help the local zoo Jim Olson has the story Jim Olson KX News The llamas at Roosevelt Park Zoo don t have much shade - so zoo workers planted a tree in the pen last summer The llamas loved the tree especially eating the tree so today it was taken out of it s spot Zoo workers dragged it aside - and the llamas started eating the juicy leaves they couldn t reach before Meanwhile workers - and a couple of volunteers - got busy planting a new tree in its place The volunteers are the people who donated the money to buy this tree - and others newly planted at the zoo Tara Gregg Tree Donor We were thinking about people that might need trees and thought of the park right away We talked with Dana and she said yes we do need trees Dana Pritschet Roosevelt Park Zoo Trees can be pretty expensive once we start putting them in especially ones this size So we always take donations for things at the zoo and trees are one of those things that we ll take donations Tara and Mike Gregg sell Shaklee products and the Shaklee company has a focus on environmental projects - so this was a natural fit Mike Gregg Tree Donor To us Earth Day is everyday so in honor of that we have donated a couple of trees to the zoo to do our part And once the new tree was in place the llamas seemed pretty interested Dana Pritschet Roosevelt Park Zoo The llamas are interested pretty much in anything going on here at the zoo and probably more than anything they want to get a piece of that tree That s why the fence is going up Yep the fence will keep them out of it The fence will assure the llamas the shade they want - and keep them from eating themselves out of that shady spot At Roosevelt Park Zoo Jim Olson KX News Pritschet says if you d like to donate things like trees to the zoo - and if you d like to volunteer to help put them in - she s be happy to hear from you Just call the Roosevelt Park Zoo for information
