Warmer weather is nice But why our world is seeing warmer temps is the center of discussion in Mandan Governor John Hoeven and the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce are hosting a round table discussion on energy and environmental policies One of the main topics of discussion is the Lieberman-Warner proposal The bill would establish federal requirements to reduce United States greenhouse gas emissions But some people say this bill would only raise energy and gas costs That would increase the prices of many of the goods you buy Local small business owner Randy Hellman says if the bill passes as presented it could end up changing his business entirely Randy Hellman Hellman Brothers Men s Clothing From all of the data that I have read that has been handed to me it looks as though in ten years I wont have a business anymore and it is something that I started from scratch I would like to continue it I would like to pass it onto my children Another group says the people opposing the bill do not have all of their facts straight Carmen Miller is the North Dakota representative for the PEW Environment Group Miller says the people who are against the proposal are not looking at the entire bill She says much of their data is speculation Carmen Miller PEW Environment Group There is a little bit of the sky is falling mentality with respect to this bill which we think is unwarrented And really what this bill represents is not the end of the discussion but the beginning and this is a debate that is going to go on for a long time Miller says the bill is a step in the right direction when it comes to climate change She says the danger of doing nothing to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emission could be even worse
